Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it seems likely that Cam Newton will be traded this off-season. We reported earlier that troubles have been brewing between the two parties since last year, and though it looked briefly as though it had been resolved, there is still probably trouble in paradise.

The Carolina Panthers are showing very strong interest in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater per sources. I’m told the conversations have been going very well. #panthers

In a statement released by Panthers GM Matthew Hurney today: “One of the distinct pleasures of my career was selecting Cam [Newton] with the first pick in the 2011 draft,” Hurney said. “Every year difficult decisions are made and they are never easy. We have been working with Cam and his agent to find the best fit for him moving forward and he will always be a Carolina Panther in our hearts.”
