LeBron James wants Juneteenth to be a National Holiday

LeBron James took to Instagram today to post about Juneteenth, the day that celebrates the emancipation of Black slaves in the United States. James had a prominent question attached to his post though-Why isn’t Juneteenth nationally recognized as a Holiday?

The Lakers superstar has been an incessant apparatus of support when it comes to black equality and raising awareness when it comes to civil issues facing our society today. James is  also currently forming a voting rights organization along with several other prominent Black athletes and entertainers. The group, called More Than a Vote, is built to combat issues like voter suppression, an outstanding issue present in black communities.
