Despite the NBA season being on hold currently, that has not stopped the conversation from continuing, especially since the association is in talks to resume soon. On Wednesday’s episode of ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby, Damian Lillard chimed in on the season MVP debate between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo saying:
“This season I think it’s LeBron, They’re the No. 1 team in the west, they’ve been consistent all year long, and for him to be at the age he’s at with the amount of miles that he has on his body, how often he’s talked about the pressure that they’ve put on him in every little thing that he does. At the level he’s performing at, in my opinion, I think he’s the MVP.”
While some may argue that contrition for the age of James should be mutually exclusive from the MVP debate, Lillard ultimately summarized an effective case, given the marvelous season that James is having. James is averaging 26, 11, and 8 assists in his 17th season, not to mention that the last time the Los Angeles Lakers played the Milwaukee Bucks, James embarrassed the Greek Freak in a game that was effectively open and shut by the stellar play of the King.
I just hope that we get to see a season this year, let alone a MVP winner.
